Academic Cloud

What is it?

Academic and research work may require the use of high-processing capacity computers with large memory and data storage capacity. To meet these needs, FGV provides its researchers, professors, and students from the SP, RJ, and DF units with a high-performance computing infrastructure called Academic Multicloud. This infrastructure is used in a shared way and can be dynamically configured by the user to meet a wide variety of demands.

The technology on which FGV's Academic Multicloud is based is the same used by companies such as Amazon or Microsoft to offer services through which their customers can quickly allocate (and deallocate when necessary) ICT infrastructure resources to meet their business needs. These resources are usually offered in the form of "virtual machines" or "virtual servers." Using these same concepts and resources, FGV researchers, professors, and students will be able to have "virtual machines" with configurations appropriate to the needs of their research and academic work and that can be used for the period of their completion.

The DTI provides training workshops for the use of the platform. To register for the workshops and obtain access to the platform, please make your request through the link
